You want to experience first hand how it feels to live and sleep in a real Maasai village? Then we have the perfect home for you away from tourist camps. In 2018 we built a house for us and our guests. Karibu sana!
Whether you want to sleep for just one night during your safari trip or you have the desire to stay a bit longer, we can promise you: you will never forget this experience. Our house is situated just 2 km away from one of the world's most famous wildlife reserve and it's built in the traditional Maasai way. You will be staying with our family and you only need to bring two things: an open heart and the spirit of adventure. With your stay you support my community, since 5 Dollar of each night go to our school fund!
Our house is built in the traditional Maasai style with just a few modifications (cemented floor, bigger windows). We have a kitchen with a charcoal oven and a table and bench. The sitting area offers a comfortable sofa for you to enjoy the afternoons. Our guest rooms are equipped with a maasai bed with matresses, a cupboard for your clothes and a washing table with a mirror. You get a lock to secure your belongings. Our house also has a small veranda.
By May 2018 we will be equipped with a washroom house containing a toilet and a bucket shower. We are also working on a solar System, meanwhile candles, torches and solarlamps do the trick.
During your stay with us we can of Course offer you game drives to the reserve with a private landcruiser, but there is more to experience in the Mara. What about various hikes around the area while learning about local herbs? Or learning how to throw a speer or use bow and arrow. Our ladies are also happy to teach you about our traditional beading jewelry or you learn about african cuisine.
Whatever you want to learn and experience yourself, we love to show and teach you what there is to know. You decide!
